Acts 11.1-18

This coming Sunday I will be preaching on Acts 11.1-18. In verse 12 the Apostle Peter says: "The Spirit told me to go with them and not to make a distinction between them and us." In this passage Peter has to jump over hurdles that he had in place. Hurdles that helped distinguish (a Jew) himself from other people (Gentiles). Peter is recounting this story to the leaders in Jerusalem. Telling about what had happened at Cornelius's house ------ and how he remembered what Jesus had said: "John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit." (verse 16) By remembering what Jesus had said he knew that what was going on was God ordained. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you remember what Jesus had said and that what is happening makes sense to you?
